Meet the Founder - Tan Kiew
Tan Kiew, founder of KIEW Custom Builders, has been shaping Houston’s luxury home market since 2002. With an engineering degree from The University of Michigan and an Executive MBA, Tan blends technical expertise with an innate sense of design, creating homes that are as structurally sound as they are visually stunning.
His passion for construction began in Malaysia, where he grew up watching his father build homes—often lending a hand on job sites after school. Fascinated by the transformation of raw landscapes into beautiful residences, Tan carried that passion into his career. After years in the oil and gas industry, working his way up to VP, Tan began building a home for himself—only for a buyer to make an offer so compelling that he couldn’t resist, recognizing the exceptional quality of his work before it was even complete. That moment solidified his path in luxury homebuilding.
For over two decades, Tan has been known for crafting high-end, one-of-a-kind homes ranging from elegant townhomes to sprawling estates over 10,000 square feet. His designs are trend-forward yet timeless, earning a reputation for excellence in West University, Bellaire, Memorial, and beyond. With a meticulous approach and a deep commitment to client satisfaction, Tan ensures that every home he builds is a reflection of quality, innovation, and the dreams of those who will live in it.
